How to Turn off the Maintenance Light on a Toyota Corolla

Regular service is crucial to keeping your Corolla running like new on the Wauwatosa roads, which is why it’s important to get your vehicle checked out when the maintenance light appears on your dashboard. However, sometimes the maintenance light will still flash even after your Toyota Corolla has been serviced and just needs to be reset. To learn how to reset the maintenance light on a Toyota Corolla:

  1. Put the key in the Corolla and turn it to the “on” position without actually starting the car.
  2. Press and hold the reset button near the odometer until you see “trip A” on the screen.
  3. Then, turn the key off.
  4. While you’re pressing the reset button, turn the key back to the “on” position.
  5. Continue holding the trip reset button until the miles section on the odometer flashes zero.
  6. After this, the maintenance light should turn off.

If the light flashes on your dashboard, schedule a service with Heiser Toyota to reset your maintenance light.

Resetting a Color Display Maintenance Light

Some Toyota Corollas have a multi-color information display screen and require a different process to reset the maintenance light. To learn how to reset the maintenance light on a Toyota Corolla with a color display screen, follow these steps:

  1. Put the key into your Corolla and turn it to the “on” position, but don’t start the vehicle. The “on” position may be marked as “II” on your Corolla.
  2. If your Toyota Corolla has a push-button start, then press the button twice and keep your foot off the brake while pushing.
  3. You’ll want to select the cog icon on the multi-information display screen.
  4. Then, select “scheduled maintenance.”
  5. The screen will then ask you to confirm your selection. You’ll want to hit the “ok” button.

After that, your maintenance light should be reset on your multi-color information screen. If it still flashes or you notice other problems on your Toyota Corolla, bring it into our service center at Heiser Toyota near Brookfield.
